The Bible says, “Show me a man diligent in his work, and he shall stand before kings, not mere men.”
That proverb might be one of the truest I’ve ever seen lived out, and I can attest to it personally.
When I started playing volleyball nearly 6 years ago, I was always benched. I spent months stuck at ball work, so I bought my own balls and started training on my own. Official practice was at 4, but I was on court by 3, every day of the week — even during exams. For almost 8 months I kept digging against the wall and against teammates who’d started with me.
It was slow, frustrating work. But eventually my day came. I got put on court, and I showed everyone the result of those daily sessions — the sweat, the reps, the hours nobody saw. My diligence to improve earned me a spot on the first team.
It wasn’t easy, but it paid off. From the slumps to setter.
