Starting today, the trending feed will be removed from Farcaster apps. Trending was launched a few years ago to help user discovery. Since then we've added better ways to discover users: in-feed suggestions, rewards leaderboards and algo recommendations. Fewer than 5% of users check the trending feed everyday, and the algo we use for trending is no longer helpful for discovering new users. In the spirit of simplifying the app, we're removing this feature which has long outlived its purpose.

This sucks. So how are you planning to replace? The home feed doesn’t do it and neither does the trending topic which only surfaces one or two different topics each week? The value of trending content on a social network is so obvious — just as obvious as trending tokens.

it should show up in your home feed. if it didn't im curious what kind of stuff you were discovering in trending that wasn't in home.

My trending was showing people cast about the sky on ITAP, or people saying GM GM, or random things that have only 2 likes. My home feed is currently whack, I have to find users to see what is going on lot go to channels by myself and feed the algorithm, but still doesn’t work😪

The trending topic too isn’t doing any justice, the current trending topic will most likely be the trend till next week, maybe when you or Dan cast about how well you loved Kaiju. No 8, despite other trends that surpass it. I am sorry if any of what I have said came out as rude or insulting to the team or you🙏 I am just airing my feedback, because I spend a whole lot of time on this app, and yet my home feed is not used to me, I even go as far as throwing people into the void (muting them), because I just want a personalised home feed

To be very honest, I don’t have a problem with the way the random things pop up in my feed, I too want my casts to get to everyone’s home feed, but there should be a way to regulate my casts getting into everyone’s home feed and theirs get into mine, most especially the new users, and people I am not following. And that was why the trending feed was made, so I can find new people with a like mind on topics, but if the trending feed is not there, the home feed is poor and the following tab is outdated, what then is the way forward?
