This is the type of motivation I'm most excited about. I actually think this is pretty separate from speculative motivations. Many people that buy an expensive / limited-edition t-shirt, poster, figurine, etc. do so out of fandom, not bc they expect to sell it for more later. These are not mutually exclusive — there may be *some* speculative motivation, but it's very secondary to being motivated by fandom, or a desire for self-expression & finding other like-minded people.
