To the one of discrimination (Vivekin), everything is seen as suffering (Duḥkham). Because of the pain of change (Pariṇāma), of anxiety (Tāpa), and of latent impressions (Saṁskāra), and because the guṇas (the three operating forces of nature: Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) are in constant conflict. Happiness is but a decaying orbit. Pleasure is but the delay of pain. The wise do not seek better dreams; they seek to wake up.
