SNARKs vs STARKs: A Comparison of ZK Tech
SNARKs and STARKs are zero-knowledge proofs used to validate data without revealing the actual information. SNARKs, or succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge, are efficient but rely on a trust setup involving a pre-generated public-private key pair. On the other hand, STARKs, scalable transparent argument of knowledge, are trustless and don't require a setup, but they are computationally more expensive. SNARKs are preferred for efficiency in blockchain applications, while STARKs are gaining interest for their security and transparency. Both technologies offer privacy and scalability solutions, but their use cases might differ.
