do you think this cycle feels different and this time it might not happen this way. 

as in this time the price is driven by institutional adoption as opposed to a new retail wave. (a hunch. will look into data)

Yup, mostly it was zero sum since there’s no real revenue // dividend structure for crypto

Most got jaded into believing that their coin is the next big thing, married the community

I am not very optimistic about that. I did this exercise a few months back. 

Looked at the top 100 tokens as per coingecko going back 8 years. If o recall correctly for about 70% you would have lost money actually and for a significant other you would have under performed BTC.

Yup, it does feel very different, but also the same

Many made money but many also lost money on NFTs, alts.

Unless we go back to near ATH levels on those again, most of the retail probably wont come back
