I’ve been contemplating why decentralized storage networks have not gained much traction. It might be because we've been conditioned to think that IT infrastructures for major applications require a large database to store all users' data in one place. A major shift in thinking about data storage could certainly change that. Imagine if, instead of focusing on how and where to store data for millions of users, we thought about storing data for each user individually, without commingling it with other users' data. In this model, each user becomes the owner of their data. This data can be stored on a network like Arweave and then used by the user running an app on their own device, with their own individual local database to support their data reporting and analytics needs.

Reading this book right now. With my nerdy obsession on disrupting the IT Infrastructure in the Investment Management space, I’m feeling that “Read Write Own” will make it onto my top 10 list of the 100+ books I have read in the last 25 years.
