As you know conventional Cryptography is based in number theory. It works perfectly for 1D data. But when data is 2D such as image it's very slow. One alternative is chaotic systems. People started to use them since 1998 but without having solid knowledge about them.

But there is big challenge here. People used these dynamical systems without having solid knowledge about them so that lots of them effectively attacked. For example they construct very complex algorithm based on Logistic map. It's really funny. Because this dynamical system is not designed for Cryptography!!!!

For cryptography we need to put all keys in chaotic interval. So it's clear that the interval should be large otherwise attacker easily can find the key. Therefore, general chaotic systems such as Logistic (1D), Henon (2D) or RΓΆssler (3D) with small chaotic interval are not good for cryptography.
