wut It’s sorta like, the whole decentralisation ethos If it’s outrageously expensive or prohibitive to run a node, your network becomes centralised. Don’t care so much if L2s are centralised, but mainnet should always strive to optimise for local node runners. Also makes for FAR cheaper points of entry for businesses when they’re not reliant on paying infura through the nose for a grand total of 3 RPC calls a month.

I totally get your points, and personally I totally agree with you. When you say "run nodes for personal use" I agree, that's dumb and shouldn't be optimised for. However, if it was phrased as "run nodes with low enough requirements that small/medium sized companies don't end up all depending on a few cloud RPC providers" then it's hard to disagree While I am with you on the Coinbase bit, a situation where we're all buying RPCs from Coinbase instead is only marginally better IMO. The current mix is far from perfect, but I hope we'll always be able to run our own nodes. FWIW @superfluid runs nodes for all networks we operate on, as well as @farcaster!
