The fort on Kelor Island is a Martello Fort built by the VOC in the 17th century as part of a defense system to protect Batavia from enemy attacks. This fort has a unique shape and thick walls, but parts of its structure have been damaged by erosion, the Krakatoa tsunami, and looting.
