WIP, quality may suffer from video capture
A few ideas, media formats, and enabling technologies coming together:
IRL photography and video π·
- Example below originally taken in the forest behind my parents home
Photoshop π¨
- Manipulation of photos to meet preferred aspect ratio and resolution
Dithering software πΈ
- Tried both Dithertone Pro plugin for Photohop, and Ditherboy. So far Ditherboy feels better overall. Specifically it enables saving sets of variables as presets, and if preferred creating your own color palette jsons
Claude Code + threejs π¨βπ»
- I'm not here to be just another Claude glazer, but it does enable me to experiment with applying web native visual effects via code that would otherwise have taken a long time to train myself to create. I don't assume it's creating an ideal codebase, but it's still a pretty big unlock.
Fun fact: I was initially using the RetroArch emulator to load images and apply some of their built in and third party developed shaders over loaded still images, but Claude fairly accurately recreated the settings/variables required to replicate what I wanted, in threejs. Very cool.
Been a long time coming thinking about this style and how I want to go about making it web friendly + potentially interactive. I should probably focus more on setting a clear scope for this, but winging it a bit for now.
Probably more tweaking and restarting to come.
