Have been visiting with my parents at their rural home for the holiday. This often constitutes 'vacation' for me even outside the holiday season.
They decided to retire early, despite the fact that continuing to work would have made things financially easier; The time they say, is more important. They live simply, find pleasure in hobbys, and deeply appreciate the day to day connections or activities that they persue. I'm so proud of them.
Extended my stay to avoid driving through fresh snow on the roads. Took my camera out today to enjoy the forests and fields behind their neighborhood. An opportunity to slow down, feel the cold on my face, lie prone in the snow with the frozen earth against my body. A little time to let it go, and just be. π
