What do you type on? 

I use a Realforce PFU Limited Edition (R3TLSA-US4-IV). Primarily wanted a beige colorway in my life. 🤍

After testing a friend's keyboard, I found myself fond of the quiet, 45g Topre switches. They aren't particularly thocky, but I'm usually wearing headphones anyway. This is the 80% layout, which helps keep my desk space a bit more open.

Opted for a standalone numpad, the NiZ 21EC(XLED), that I move around as needed.

Hehe that's fair, I've used generic office keyboards on and off my whole life, sometimes simple is best.

mbp, or this really cheap keyboard i pulled out of a box from idek how long ago, or my moonlander mk2 that i keep in my office. 

tbh, the cheap keyboard is the most fun to type on.

Still dailying my quite rare Coolermaster NovaTouch with hybrid Topre switch / Cherry stems, paired with Matt3o MT3 Susuwatari caps.

I didn't think I could ever move on from Topre but I'm slowly pivoting hard to a Corne ergo split with Kailh black switches, sculpted 3D printed caps, and on Colemak-dh. 🤓

I originally opted for qwerty and went with a 42 key variant but found it awkward to type on as my touch typing form is not great and over indexes heavily on my left hand.

That was sort of the beginning of my journey in exploring a new layout, which for long I thought was impossible if not not worth it. But 3 weeks into practicing for 30 minutes daily I've been so wrong, it is such a joy to type this way. Main reason being Colemak is optimized for the English language, so words come out very smooth.

Aside from ergonomics, a long term motivator is to increase my throughput in typing. On qwerty I'm capped at 100 wpm but I think I could push to 150 wpm with this new layout, which imo helps a bit in this age of AI!

keybr.com has been foundational to learning colemak; highly configurable and basically got it matching my setup and the lessons are automatic and very well paced.

Ooo I remember the Coolermaster! Had a friend who was hunting them but they'd already become almost impossible to get.

Curious to see the new setup when it's finished! The idea of swapping to a new layout is daunting.. I can do some of my own research, but what's the base case that lead you in that direction?
