There's a good chance that Trump won't be able to secure even a single "deal" for his tariffs, even with allies like Japan. Because at heart what he's doing is extortion (as Japanese MP Shinji Oguma eloquently argued: x.com/RnaudBertrand/…), and no country with a modicum of self-respect and sovereignty would give in to that, if only for the precedent this would set.
