When you believe anything is Possible, you start to do the impossible. Here’s the Stoic strategy for doing the impossible: 1. Redefine "Impossible." The first Stoic move is to understand what truly lies within your control. Most things we call "impossible" are only impossible in their final outcome. We can't control the market, a client's decision, or a global event. But what is always possible is your effort, your integrity, your creativity, and your willingness to try. 2. Focus on the Process, Not the Prize. Marcus Aurelius wrote, "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." The "impossible" task is just a series of "possible" actions blocked by obstacles. 3. Embrace the "Worst-Case" Scenario. By rationally confronting this fear, you accomplish two things: · You realize that you can likely survive and endure that worst-case scenario. · You see that even in that "failure," your character (your true self) remains intact and under your control.
