it’s hard for me to understand this point of view as a bitcoiner. we already had this battle and the side of the fork that sacrificed network fundamentals (verifiability, decentralization) in order to prioritize the business model of startups was relegated to the dustbin of history (remembered as “Bitcoin Cash”). but i think this is a harder question for other chains because they aren’t competing to be the “Phial of Galadriel” and instead need to strike a balance between UX and decentralization for smart contracting. i don’t have the answer but it will likely be different for every chain and speaks to its fundamental nature.

talked to a girl in her 20s about her dating experience and she says that guys wait 2-3 days to return a text message! so weird, why play those games?? you can opt out! i return texts the moment i see them. being authentic is more attractive (and it’s the right way to live!)

Yes and sports can go beyond an outlet and become a public good. Eg, teaching the civics of good sportsmanship, gracefully conceding losses and graciously accepting wins, opting into the authority of the referees, reinforcing meritocratic principles where hard work results in more victories…
