Re: "Consumers don't hold [Stablecoins]" – Cash App announced 57M+ users will be able to spend Stablecoins (even if they do not hold them) from an aggregate balance. With GENIUS Act + policies in place - expect more bank, fintech, neobank apps to adopt this practice to compete for customer value.
Re: "Merchants don't care about Stables" – Merchants are actively looking for card alternatives, as fees are one of their highest operating expenses. The Merchant Payments Coalition—representing the National Retail Federation, National Restaurant Association, & others in pursuit of solutions— encourages Stablecoin development given considerable savings. I see the vision for programmatic AI onchain as complementary. These developments suggest a foundation for adoption that is starting to evolve.
