Perseverance just drove itself across Mars.
An AI scanned the terrain, spotting rocks and sand traps.
It then plotted a safe path all on its own.
After tests in a virtual Mars, the rover followed these AI routes for hundreds of feet.
This marks its first fully autonomous drive.
