Base Blockchain is a Layer-2 (L2) scaling solution built on top of Ethereum, developed by Coinbase—one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges
What is the main purpose of Base?
To solve Ethereum's scalability issues, such as high transaction fees (gas fees) and slow processing speeds.
It uses Optimistic Rollups technology (based on the OP Stack from Optimism) to process transactions off-chain first, bundle them, and then settle them on the Ethereum mainnet.
Result: Transactions are much faster (often in seconds) and extremely cheap (usually under $0.01), while still inheriting Ethereum's strong security
