And it's okay! what I gained as a man is more important to me than clout or public recognition. And I want the people I care about to gain much the same for themselves as they move forward

You made a mistake in a previous venture, but you’ve moved on and were genuinely trying again.  In my field (x junkie 😏) the people who were vouching for you, your partners in crime, bear more responsibility than you.   Anyway, you can pretend something wasn't there when it actually was, but that isn't an honest reflection of how it came to be.
