Degen was the first truly community-driven project on Base, and also the first to recognize @mintclub’s potential and collaborate. Mint Club even became the No.1 protocol on Degen L3.
He’s right. Base should be a true super app that supports a wide range of Base-native apps and protocols around one big table, not push a single product or narrative.
At one point, we were excited about @baseapp.base.eth. We tried onboarding Web3 newcomers from @hunttown.eth through Base App as their first Web3 experience. But once the main feed shifted almost entirely to @zora-based creator and content coins, we stopped. It became hard to explain to newcomers why this narrative mattered to them.
We miss the earlier days when community-driven, creative projects gathered on Base and supported each other. Now it feels like only inner-circle narratives remain.
Remember when $DEGEN took over the feed, mfers launched $mfer-backed tokens on Mint Club, $HAM and $TN100x tipping, $GROK followers, and people played with @farcards? Today, Base chose one path, Farcaster another, and everyone else feels left outside.
Do we still feel good building on Base? We keep building on @farcaster because people like @dwr, @v, @linda, and @horsefacts.eth continue to support mini apps, even funding builders weekly for a long time.
Where is @baseapp.base.eth heading now? Maybe it’s time to return to the original mindset.
