There are a lot of people who quote “iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17) like it’s some warm, fuzzy Hallmark verse. Bullshit. Iron doesn’t sharpen iron by agreeing with it. It sharpens it by grinding against it. There’s friction. There’s resistance. Sometimes there are sparks. If every conversation ends with everybody nodding their heads, nobody got any sharper or any fucking smarter. I don’t need people to tell me I’m right. I need people willing to punch holes in my ideas without trying to punch holes in me. That’s how good thoughts become better thoughts. If an idea can’t survive being challenged, it probably wasn’t much of an idea to begin with. I’d rather have my mind sharpened than my ego polished any damn day. #fletcherchristiankc #proverbs #ok
