🇯🇵 BOJ delivered a widely expected move.
The Bank of Japan raised rates by 25 bps to 0.75%, the highest level in 30 years, in a unanimous vote.
Key points:
• Economy seen recovering moderately
• Wages and inflation expected to rise together
• Labor market tight, corporate profits strong
• Real rates still deeply negative
• Policy remains accommodative
Markets weren’t surprised. The yen weakened post-decision, confirming this was priced in.
This was normalization, not tightening.
