The WNBA has announced the addition of three new expansion teams—Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia—increasing the league to a record 18 franchises. Cleveland will begin play in 2028, Detroit in 2029, and Philadelphia in 2030. Each new team will pay a record $250 million expansion fee. All three franchises will be owned by NBA ownership groups in their respective cities
