My opinion:
This rivalry of Rada and Terin is really interesting and create depth to the story.  Their relationship at the School could be expanded to create more depth with their future encounter in the story. Their rivalry started since they were young, but this rivalry is the one that will shape the fate of Marqala.
They're like two sides of the same coin. Both Rada and Terin are genius, but they hold on different believe and ideas about how the world. 
In the future setting I'd like to see another rivalry that will shape Marqala. They're probably a direct descendant of Rada and Terin, or their believe is highly influenced by Rada and Terin.
