Also, the shit that people like David Goggins say — “do what you feel like you can’t do, discard comfort” — is, honestly, utter bullshit. A better version is this: do what you feel like you should do. When you do that, comfort or hardness of the work doesn’t really matter. The brain doesn’t even work that way. All these feelings of discomfort are basically the same thing that happens when you go to the gym — you tear muscle to build more muscle. It’s simple biology, not some heroic suffering narrative. So the real thing is this: you should do whatever you feel like you should do, and all the rest won’t matter.
