Manarola, Liguria, Italy
Set amid rocky coastal cliffs, Manarola is one of the five fishing villages that make up the breathtaking Cinque Terre in northwestern Italy. It's probably the most recognisable of all five thanks to the pastel houses clinging to the cliffside. Legend has it that they were painted in bright colours so returning fishermen could spot their homes more easily. The village is at its most stunning during sunset, when the low evening sun casts a honey hue over the pretty buildings
