When Steve and I started orbiter.host, there were two things we wanted to focus on: 1. Playing in a validated market. 2. Using /pinata for all our IPFS needs. We did exactly those things even if point 1 means dealing with heavy competition. I think we have some nice advantages that will grow over time though.

Yeah I noticed gnome was an option when setting this up and I wish I had selected it. Not sure how to switch now without starting over

I think maybe it’s Plasma KDE? Not sure. I’ll dig into it more for sure. Still configuring things

My friend and MFA cohort member wrote this short story in 2016 and it’s still so good. https://maudlinhouse.net/an-excerpt-from-the-recently-discovered-text-on-the-creation-of-man-and-smartphone/

Some sad news. My M1 macbook that I converted to Linux runs considerably slower than when it was running macOS. Maybe this is expected, but it is a shame.

If I could raise awareness for one project, WDIM is definitely the one today. Because farcaster is open, anyone can experiment with "AI clients" that streamline information away from the timeline, and focus on specific topics. I think we're a little too bullish apps as farcaster distribution, and not bullish enough on bespoke faucets for casts. Your future majority farcaster client could be an LLM. 🔮

Been thinking about this for a while. Did a ton of it at Pinata starting back in 2023 ish https://farcaster.xyz/polluterofminds/0x00048632

Something pretty neat about working with assembly before truly diving into Rust is I was immediately introduced to the concept of macros in Rust in the first chapter. I learned exactly what these were and how they work in assembly so the concept immediately clicked.

After a weekend spent dipping my toes into Assembly, I think it's time to dive into The Book and try to learn Rust properly. I think the web is the best and most open platform there is, and this is why I have been such a fan of JavaScript. However, Rust allows you to write lower level programs that can then be compiled to web assembly and run on the web. Seems like a great combination. https://doc.rust-lang.org/book/title-page.html

My wife is going through her MBA program and she did a paper on Zune and what could have been had Microsoft pushed it forward with a different strategy. Pretty interesting to dig into the history of it

Ah, I didn’t sign up for the waitlist. I’ll wait for GA. I don’t care to coin every post enough. Just wanted to check out the Farcaster integration

The App Store screenshots still show the old wallet UI. And when the app updated to Base, it said join the waitlist for the new experience. Strange.

This is another reason I like the seemingly pointless exercise of learning assembly (specifically arm64 assembly on apple silicon). I can’t vibe code my way through it. I actually have to learn. Claude and ChatGPT are horrendous at arm64 assembly. https://www.goto10retro.com/p/vibe-coding-in-basic
