As much as I enjoyed San Francisco as a software engineer and having cab drivers who knew about Kafka and Redis, moving to New York has made me more creative. The diversity here has been crucial for me, expanding my understanding of how people can live in different ways through various professions.
Of course, not everything is perfect. Cycling in New York really sucks. The roads are narrow, the traffic is intense, and as a cyclist, you often feel disrespected. This is something I really miss from San Francisco, where cyclists are much more respected and the biking culture is far better.
