The Unwritten Rules of Farcaster (a thread 1/11) 1. Don’t ask for follows—most users ignore or avoid those who do. 2. Engagement matters—treat it as a social network, not just a broadcasting platform. 3. The algorithm prioritizes engagement—interact with content you like to train your feed. 4. Give likes freely to support content you enjoy. 5. Reply thoughtfully—generic responses don’t add value and may be ignored. 6. Tag people with purpose—avoid tagging non-followers without a good reason. 7. Use channels to connect—they’re a safe space for engaging beyond your followers. 8. If you’re being ignored, check your spam label—many won’t see your replies if you’re at Level 0 or 1. 9. Rules are looser with friends—banter freely, but remember relationships take time to build. 10. Farcaster is a unique, close-knit community—engage authentically, be patient, and you’ll find your place.

First full day back in Japan and the travel karma is not with me. Trains were delayed this morning (which rarely happens) and I missed my Shinkansen. No big deal, take the next one…except it arrived 15 minutes later which was just enough to mess up my connection…so we changed gears and went to a different temple that I planned to go to on Saturday… Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. I’m glad I have two days here so I had some flexibility! Randomly, I found a fountain and pond dedicated to Benzaiten and drank the water that heals so that was a huge bonus! The Goshuin was also very very pretty. The monk who did it has amazing calligraphy skills. It’s a little work of art!

I think I did pretty good for a first trip to Korea! I saw the mountains, the sea, got close to North Korea, bought too much skin care at Olive Young, started a pilgrimage and knocked out 6 of 33 temples, went to a bunch of UNESCO world heritage sites, had coffee and dinner with some Farcasters (shout out @mintclub for organizing!) and saw some amazing museums plus got some epic non FDA approved beauty treatments (*cough* salmon sperm) and bought enough fancy sheet masks to enjoy one each night until I get home. Now I’m headed back to Japan but Korea has a special place in my heart and I plan to return next year!
