Yep, that’s the trend indeed. However what I often talk about is the paradox of safety. The number of aircraft flying roughly doubles every 20 years; so even if we maintain the current accident rate (marginal returns making it harder to improve it further), then we’ll still have twice as many accidents in 20 years, which is societally unacceptable
