there is a strong subculture here that is highly passionate about cypherpunk values. this means programmable and self sovereign money, privacy and censorship resistance, and new forms of governance over our most important institutions. however, you’ve joined at a strange time. these values are not broadly appealing. they are hard to explain and require a certain amount of personal sacrifice to maintain. most people prefer convenience. the values that underlie this community have created a tremendous amount of value that has brought in a wave of speculators, diluting the discourse underneath a veneer of get rich quick. but it’s still here if you take the time to look for it.
