Ancient Lineage: Siberian Huskies were originally bred by the Chukchi people of Siberia over 3,000 years ago. These dogs were vital to the survival of the Chukchi, as they were used to pull sleds over long distances in harsh Arctic conditions, helping transport goods and people. Endurance and Strength: Siberian Huskies are known for their incredible stamina and strength. They were bred to travel long distances at moderate speeds, making them perfect sled dogs. In 1925, a team of Siberian Huskies led by the famous sled dog Balto delivered life-saving diphtheria serum to the town of Nome, Alaska, during a deadly epidemic—a feat that became known as the "Great Race of Mercy." Unique Eyes: Siberian Huskies are famous for their striking eyes, which can be blue, brown, or even one of each (a condition known as heterochromia). Their sharp, often icy-blue eyes are a defining characteristic of the breed and add to their wild and wolf-like appearance.
