At the street food markets in the old city center, you can try everything: dim sum, crab cakes, egg pancakes and noodles. Fried dumplings with shrimp are especially delicious. In cafes, you can get spicy chicken gong bao. In restaurants, specialties are of interest, for example, stewed wheat gluten with mushrooms or mandarin fish in the shape of a squirrel. The most “Shanghai” product is eel. In shopping centers, takeaway food in small bags and Korean cafes with braziers in the middle of the table are in demand. In tourist areas, the names of dishes are duplicated in English, but outside of them, they are written only in hieroglyphs. Sometimes there is no menu at all.
