a16z did not quit crypto. On Oct 22 a16z Crypto became a16z Frontier, with AI and robotics added to the mandate. a16z says crypto investing and regulatory lobbying stay.
Worth noting: in May the $2.2B fifth fund was pitched as crypto-focused (TheStreet, approximate). Ali Yahya, their first crypto investor since 2017, reportedly left (The Information, not confirmed by a16z).
