For a mini-app that allows you to interact with and explore a REAL city’s arts district downtown in 3d, what interactive experience would you seek most?

Open ended, because what you comment just might be put in the nonprofit’s mini-app this week.

Anything else special? For example, Creative Districts will often plan the location first then finalize the piece second with NAC funding possible often times. We could probably create spots for public art submission online (not just offline at planning meetings), as well as viewing.

One of the things the NAC looks for and districts need is a strong planning and selection process for not just the installments but the art and artist itself. I think this could be a big feature to use.

Would that be neat, or too much?

Something to do with an actual art piece.  A sculpture or statue that you can explore the history behind.

- Street View, incubating! I have some limitations using Deckgl for my rendering but this is something I want to add in or at least link to Google Street View in a way at the least or at least click-to-see-street-view-media pieces. 

- ✅ Live Events, yes! It’s on a ingest toggle, but I can plug any livestream embed directly into cards and allow them full-screen from there, calendar/event listings soon. Hoping this will fill the live event integration. Any specific featuring for this imagined?

- Artist Interaction Zones! Tell me more. I was envisioning a way for artists and community members to contribute creativity and donations on a map-spot by map-spot basis. I have some ideas but I’ll always listen to more.

- ✅ Hidden Art Hunt 👀 yes there will be artful and historic Easter Eggs around the map to discover!

- ✅ Day/Night mode works with system settings! Tap the 🔅 — improving the UI of this to make it more apparent.

I’d want an interactive 3D experience that lets me virtually wander the arts district’s streets, with these key features:

5.  Dynamic Day/Night Mode

Working on it! Deckgl isn't the best solution for the map probably but I'm going to continuously work even post-build to get that as light for mobile as possible! 

Responsive/dynamic sizing is pretty solid so far, hopefully! A few tap-to-close issues that are non-critical I'm still cleaning up.

Localized chat and chat bubbles, oooh! Almost like how some TV shows do on-screen texting effects? 

I did want to integrate forms of live interaction, including placing things like ephemeral emote reactions on the map (especially for live events like festival days) so this is a great idea! 😌

Just deckgl layering the map, polygons and icons! Since it supports 3d files I can also find or create objects (eg, Blender) to drop and transform on the map as well- much of this week’s work to be done. 

I still have much to add in, but I think creators being able to use and explore the map to find and engage a creative community (streams, socials, history, donations, etc.), as well as realizing they’ll be allowed to copy and modify our source code to share alike and build their own mini-app for their town if they wanted, too.

@ozmium.eth What software did you use for the design? It feels like 3D Max in architectural design. I have another question: What aspect of the miniapp you’re building will excite users the most?

😂 It does have a very “decentraland” almost vibe to it making you want to buy and build doesn’t it? 

I’m thinking of ways that both the community and tourism can benefit. One thing I’m planning to do is make Rent and For Sale data automated so explorers can also see what actually is available in the community. I have GeoJSON and parcel (County Assessor) data pretty much on demand thanks to databases and APIs.

One idea I had, which would of course still need community approval, is the ability to buy or rent spaces in the virtual map so people can share their works near and far at various locations on the map where you would image such a work be viewable.

The focus is the local artists and art community of course, but with the goal of a district like this being community growth and tourism development, I’m open to any ideas to invite that kind of symbiosis. 🙂
