I was never great at history in school, but understanding crypto and how money’s value is created is essential. I’ll now share insights on macroeconomics from what I’ve learned online, starting with macro cycles—everything has a beginning and an end.
History moves in 80-year cycles with four 20-year phases. WWII ended the cycle of British dominance, and we’re now in the final phase of a new cycle, likely concluding around 2030, often with conflict.
In WWI, Germany’s rise challenged Britain, leading to war and 20 million deaths. The Treaty of Versailles imposed heavy reparations on Germany, causing hyperinflation and collapse, which enabled Hitler’s rise and WWII, claiming 70 million lives.
To fund these wars, major powers abandoned the gold standard, triggering inflation and transforming the global economy. History doesn’t repeat exactly, but patterns persist.
