Web3 Flashbacks By Paulmoses!! In 2017 something wild happened on #Ethereum. Parity Wallet, created by @gavofyork’s team, was the go-to multisig wallet for big projects. Teams trusted it with millions in ETH. The wallets all relied on a shared library contract. That contract wasn’t supposed to be touched by regular users, it was meant to sit quietly in the background and power every wallet linked to it. But two functions inside that library were left exposed. One let someone become the owner of the entire contract. The other let the owner delete the whole thing. Both were sitting there with no protection. Then a random GitHub user named devops199 stumbled on it. They called the first function and suddenly became the owner of the entire Parity library. A moment later they triggered the delete function. The contract vanished on the spot.
