ISO/IEC 10646 celebrates grids as encoders of transferable intelligence. It is a paean to the grid's universal interactions which, as intimated by Turing's revolutionary thesis, culminates in the proposition that *that universality* may be used to reconstruct all human knowledge. That's for sure. Where are these schools today? Most art schools these days double as business management colleges. 😜

I can't vouch for the content of this design journal (yet) but i can vouch for the cover. 'Journal of the Ulm School for Design was published from 1958–1968 in 14 issues (21 numbers). This international journal provided a comprehensive account of the theoretical, rational and practical curriculum at one of Europe’s most influential design schools since the Bauhaus' - Monoskop PDF's of every issue can be found at good old Monoskop https://monoskop.org/Ulm

The show was strong, the conference hit hard, and a lot of fun was had socially. The Zimoun installation was very nice, too.

Absolutely agree with what she says... it's one of the reasons I am a bit reticent of certain tools that increase our productivity and speed up cycles synthetically, because in that augmentation maybe we loose something of the thing that is so essential. Growing my own food, for one, has taught me a lot :) 🌱 I have grown to be a massive fan of Asawa's work in a few short years. You can feel in what you see of hers, this credo. Thanks for sharing this quote!

Guy de Cointet It is the Norwegian way to say good evening, 1978 I love the light humoured style of Guy de Cointet's titles as a counterpoint to his hard geometric minimalism. Some really nice works at his website > https://www.guydecointet.org/dessin X friend John Supko remarked that my Tauba Auerbach post reminded him of de Cointet's work and for sure there are overlaps in style. I couldn’t resist delving in the de Cointet's back catalogue.

Ah nice anecdote and argument!... maybe desire paths paths applied to UX? I guess it's already in there by definition but the idea of desire paths being somewhat dynamic (and anarchic) adding a hint of spice. Desire path prediction algorithms? Desire paths, a slightly more oblique way of saying 'form follows function' 😀
