Legendary stats professor Andrew Gelman who's Bayesian work underpins the whole data science revolution that the ai 'thing' sits on top of has a great post pointing out similar tragicomic flaws in tech god emperor complexes. Early on they’re the mammals. Scrappy. Overlooked. Outsmarting the dinosaurs. That story works. Until it doesn’t. Once they win, they become the dinosaur but keep telling themselves they’re still the clever underdog. That contradiction does strange things to people.
