GM. I have - hopefully - a final inspection on my space this morning toward my city approvals.
As I look at the nearby lineup, I think about patience.
So much of surfing is waiting. In the ocean, humans can’t control when the next wave is coming.
A challenging aspect for beginner surfers is knowing which wave to choose. Without that knowledge, you can’t get into the right position.
Sometimes the next wave looks big, scary, and obvious. Sometimes it’s a nearly imperceptible change of color on a strip of the water’s surface.
In the waiting, we get to learn what’s what. Each wave is data stored in the mind for future pattern-matching.
Maybe you are waiting for something to happen in your life or work too. I believe there is a kind of waiting that can brim with interior activity: observing, learning, questioning.
So, when what you’re waiting for finally comes, you’ll be ready for it.
