I’ve seen a lot of similar takes regarding threads/twitter, what they seem to forget is that twitter is already losing ad money and has no clear path to profit an outcome where it doesn’t regain marketshare means it dies at the moment https://twitter.com/basedbeffjezos/status/1677804622466150400
There was a lot of rioting and violence in small concentrated zones after the police killing of a boy last week. A lot of people online are trying to make it about race/immigration (as usual i guess) and there is a lot of misinformation (old videos, completely fake headlines like military coming in etc.)
What it's really about is young people from the 'cités' feel abandoned by the society/system and have been suffering from a long history of police abuse, this was a tipping point. While there has been a lot of destruction (mostly in their own neighborhoods which makes it fruitless) it's really not a bad as it seems.
