How accurate are slashing detection oracles in differentiating FPs? Slashing detection oracles, which are external systems designed to automatically identify and report slashable offenses, face a significant challenge in differentiating FPs from true malice. Their accuracy is inherently limited. They are excellent at detecting the objective fact of a slashing condition on-chain (e.g., "this key signed two conflicting messages"). However, they have zero visibility into the subjective intent behind it. They cannot access the operator's off-chain logs to determine if it was a bug or a coordinated attack. Therefore, while their precision in detecting a violation may be near 100%, their accuracy in labeling it as "malicious" versus "false-positive" is poor. These oracles are powerful for automating the detection of provable offenses, but the final judgment on intent must involve a human-in-the-loop or a sophisticated dispute resolution system.
