Oh here’s another term that ends up with a lot of heavy use in transactional law. I’ve seen before in practice a larger Federally registered tax exempt nonprofit will sponsor a smaller local State nonprofit with a fiscal sponsorship. In some cases if the alignment is close and the organizations face challenges of volunteerism or efficiency, the acquisition of one legal entity by the other can solve these workforce and resource challenges by merging them together. Typically the acquirer survives and the merged entity is “fit” into the acquisition, which may or may not come with some adjustment (new or changed roles for team merges) as well as negotiation points (terms for retaining assets, obligations, programming, and so on the merging team may want to preserve as a part of the acquisition.) Has your project ever been involved in an acquisition of another be it assets or mergers? Coincidentally, this word and my post on it are a bit contemporaneous with the Farcaster sit-wrap, lol.
