You can call DAOs inefficient, chaotic, or unscalable, but traditional companies are not built for the internet. They’re rigid, geographically constrained, and structured around hierarchical control. DAOs, for all their flaws, are the first real attempt to create digital-native institutions. The next wave of DAOs won’t be VC-funded Discord groups—they’ll be AI-run micro economies, autonomous brands, global research networks, and community-owned infrastructure. DAOs failed their first test, but that doesn’t mean the experiment is over. It means we just discovered how hard institutional innovation really is.
