iirc even matrix is not p2p (has centralized servers even though iirc you can self-host)

Telegram (I’ve been raised w telegram in my head, Eastern Europeans are using it for everything). I love everything about it apart from the part that my international friends don’t use it often.
WhatsApp - I text my family there and have a few muted group chats w international friends. I hate how outdated the app feels. It’s like using Facebook
iMessage - a few people who are very close to me and have my phone number

in order of usage:
imessage
telegram
signal
whatsapp
like that most of my contacts have iphones for imessage, most of my crypto network is on telegram / signal
wish that my network that’s on whatsapp picked a different messaging app (i have like 2 chats there)
also wish every messaging app had the snappy ux of telegram - i love the cmd k search / folders / overall navigation
