Thinking Out Loud as a UI UX designer:
Farcaster, Coinbase Wallet & the Role of UX
I’ve been reflecting on the Coinbase Wallet integration with Farcaster. At first, the overlapping features, double notifications, multiple reply areas, felt jarring. From a UX standpoint, it’s not clean.
Farcaster is a protocol, not just an app and protocols are meant to have multiple frontends.
If Coinbase’s client brings in more users, that’s not a threat that’s growth. Still, the UX matters. A fragmented experience could confuse new users. As a designer, I know that great UX isn’t just polish it’s adoption. It’s trust.
This moment reminds me of early tech ecosystems: open, messy, but full of potential. If each client leans into thoughtful design and plays to its strengths, they won’t just coexist they’ll grow the ecosystem together.
Decentralization needs good design just as much as it needs open infrastructure. 1 reply
