New day to resume baseposting.
Let's talk about the X402 protocol.
What x402 is
x402 is an open HTTP payment protocol that uses the HTTP 402 Payment Required status code to request on chain payment for web resources.
It allows any service request payments and lets a client pay in stablecoins or other crypto, then get the resource immediately.
What x402 is not
x402 is not a blockchain. It is not a wallet, a custody service, or a payment rail by itself.
It is a spec and set of conventions for how HTTP, wallets, facilitators, and chains interact to carry out payments.
Implementations may use different chains, facilitators, and tokens.
What x402 tries to solve
x402 aims to remove friction for small, instant payments on the web.
It solves paywalls, per-call API billing, and autonomous agent payments without accounts, API keys, or subscriptions.
That opens pay-per-use models for AI agents and APIs that need many tiny, fast payments.
