Yesterday I was asked by a coworker why I chose to open source the project. Open source does several things: (1) allows anyone to verify the code to ensure it’s doing exactly what I claim it does (2) reproducibility. If I die - the idea doesn’t die with me (3) allows a broader community to contribute to the idea I will keep working on Olive Branch Network to attempt to make it the most impactful application layer… But that is not what’s most important to me… What’s most important to me is that the idea thrives. Whether it’s through the Olive Branch Network or inspiring someone to make something similar… it doesn’t matter to me. I just want the world to realize what’s possible w crypto when it comes to healing our world.

Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce you to a new open-source project - Olive Branch Network. It’s rethinking how humanity approaches funding causes that make a positive impact on the world. It comes from the belief that the world will be brighter in the future and that crypto will play a role in that transformation. With the introduction of blockchains and smart contracts we can now build financial ecosystems that don’t rely on traditional centralized authority. This essentially removes traditional third parties and replaces them with people whom want to support a decentralized system. So what is the Olive Branch Network? It’s a decentralized financial ecosystem designed to support nonprofit organizations around the world while rewarding users for participating. It does this through its staking protocol. Each nonprofit has their own pool that users can stake our network token $OBN to. As they stake, they generate yield for themselves and the nonprofit. In a way, it turns the nonprofit organization into a high yields savings account. You deposit money, earn interest, and they receive a share of the interest earned. It creates a new model of giving in a financial ecosystem where it is more beneficial to give than to not. It incentivizes giving through protocol emissions and doesn’t require users to donate a ‘principal’ amount to support a cause. — Too much of today’s society rewards bad behavior and doesn’t reward good behavior… I’ll leave it at that, but there could be an entire book written about this. I believe the world is shrouded in darkness right now and that brighter times are on the horizon. The name Olive Branch Network represents this. The olive branch symbolically has represented the ending of an era and the beginning of a new. It also represents a peace offering. The randomness of the world can be cruel at times. The projects goal is to extend an olive branch to those subjected to that cruel randomness.
