Well, yes, Ilya Muromets, for example, was a real person and ended up in a fairy tale)

Lukomorye - not a fairytale land? The prologue to "Ruslan and Lyudmila" mentions the word Lukomorye. Interestingly, this name was mentioned on Western European maps of the 16th-18th centuries. It denoted the territory adjacent to the eastern shore of the Ob Bay next to Obdora. Lukomorye is also mentioned in ancient Russian chronicles. This name was given to a place in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, where the Polovtsians lived, and the Polovtsians were called Lukomorye. Lukomorye was also the name of the territory to which the Golden Horde army had to retreat after its defeat in the Battle of Kulikovo.

In ancient Rome, a criminal could be punished by a duel in the Colosseum with a wild animal, such as a lion. This is exactly the fate that Emperor Gallienus inscribed on a merchant who sold the monarch's wife counterfeit jewelry. And when the merchant stood in the arena, a chicken emerged from the cage instead of a lion, causing general merriment. Gallienus declared, "He deceived and was deceived," and then sent the merchant home.

The expression "The game is not worth the candle" The expression is based on a card term that means that the stakes in the game are so small that even the winnings will be less than the money spent on candles to light the card table.

In 1959, English teacher Anthony Burgess fainted during a lesson. He had a brain tumor and, according to the doctor, he had no more than a year to live. Burgess decided that he should leave his wife some money and began writing feverishly. This is how A Clockwork Orange (1962) and several other novels were written. And the writer somehow recovered (by melting his tumor into a novel), lived for more than 30 years and died in 1993 from lung cancer.
